After an excellent video shoot at the Rally of Whangarei with Ken Block and Alex Gelsomino, I've had a great week in New Zealand hanging out, relaxing, and largely ignoring emails and the internet (you know...I really don't need to be as tied to it as I am). I picked up a copy of Richard Branson's revised book about getting things done and taking risks. Reading his books has always motivated me greatly, and this one has done the same again. There have been a few of those "cool business ideas" that I've never really acted on but I think it's time to take a look at them again.
My goals for the next couple months:
1. Get Fit: ride more, learn to surf, work with a trainer, climb the Chief often.
2. Blow people away with my video work, redesign my site and shake lots of hands. Promote myself and find the big jobs.
3. Start researching and meeting with people who can help me get my indoor recreation centre off the ground in Squamish. Figure out how to raise the capital for the land and building, and for the business. Give the folks in Squamish something fun to do indoors when it's raining and miserable outside. Climbing wall, go-kart track (enviro-friendly electric karts), skate park, BMX track, etc. Woodward North style.
4. Stop working at all hours and hang out with my friends more. Work hard, but play hard.
5. Get ThisCityRocks.com self-sufficient.
6. Build the rally car!
Starting...NOW.
